Under cover of darkness
the young boy hides
and flees the grave
where his father lies

he knows a thing
not to be forgot
and he shows all
that he should not

The boy flees
the terrible place
while all around
a terror takes place

a ghostly presence
rises from a grave
and all around
a silence is reigned

a ghost majestic
takes the boys hand
leading him to
a new land

and hand in hand
the ghost and boy
walk into the
land of toys

Wherein they see
a toy of old
a space-saucer
if truth be told

and scrambling in,
to their delight,
it begins
a joyous flight

above the ground
through the air
passers by will
stop and stare

and then the saucer
moving slowly
sets them down
in a pile of ravioli

the ghost at once
starts to fade away
but the boy yells
"stop! with me just stay!"

and so the ghost
his hand extends
and thus
their first adventure ends

but not for long
for now the friends
can't wait to search
some other bends

And tried and true
the ghost and boy
hand in hand
walk away with joy

In 1492,
Columbus sailed the ocean blue
(Ferdinand and Isabella backed him too)
his sight stayed strong and true
(He lied to all his crew)
And land soon they knew
though his ship went askew

And land soon they knew
but the land was taboo
And Indians were run through
Columbus said adieu
And left forty men from his crew

"and brought slaves galore
to his old spanish shore"

and made himself more well to do

He went back anew
with a much bigger crew
(to 1,500 men it grew)
and he slayed all the sioux
to make a colony or two.

With Francesco Pizarro--u
he wanted gold more than you
and the Inca's, he knew
had more than their due
so he gave them their due

and in the smallpox blew
and many souls flew
(it was worse than bird flu!)

Stop the agony of bad jokes and puns!

Will was sitting on his bed staring at the ceiling. He knew that he could be outside enjoying the sun and playing with his brother... But, he was immersed in a problem.
It just so happened, that he was the smartest kid in the country. (He had not competed against the world yet.) He was making a "true time" viewer.
On his desk sat a small lump of wires, diodes, and batteries, connected to a screen. Currently all that the screen was showing was the reflection of the ceiling on its screen.
Will stood up and moved to his invention. He looked at it closely and noticed a frayed wire. He quickly replaced it and turned on the screen...
Nothing happened.
He waited... And waited... And waited...
Still nothing happened.
Will slammed his hands on the table in frustration and ran to the kitchen to get a bite to eat.

Two small eyes looked at the slightly opened door and started to crawl into the room.

Will finished his snack; fried sugar stuffed with cream (Twinkie™), and then went back into his room.

The first thing he noticed when he entered the room, were the swirling colors seeming to come from the screen. He looked down at the screen and saw, to his dismay, his brother falling into a gaping abyss.
Will moved closer to the screen for a better view, and the next thing he knew he was falling also.

The room was empty, except for two eyes looking out of the closet; slowly a hand reached out and placed an old boat key-ring on the swirling screen. Then the hand reached out again and turned off the power…

A new scene now flickered on the screen, a scene with two boys, a old and a young being hauled onto a ship with the fish, practically dead...

"W...w...where are we?" asked Will's little brother Teddy.
"I…I don't know." replied Will, his teeth chattering.

"Robbers in the stern!" cried a man's voice.
Many other men scurried to the back of their ship and surrounded the two boys.

"I'm not scared!" said Teddy, his teeth chattering now as much from fear as from the cold.
"Sure laddy, and I'm made of money!" one of the men jeered.
"Stop pestering them!" called a voice booming louder than all of the insults that were being thrown at the two helpless boys. Instantly all of the men stopped talking and stood up straighter.

"Hello Rascals!" said the new man. The boys looked towards the voice and saw pants...
they looked up... and up... and up...
and then they saw the ugliest face that they could imagine. It had scars, and pimples, and blisters, etc.!

Both boys looked at each other and then...

fainted…

"Marco, here be some rascals were going to steal some plunder, but we caught them."

"Bring them in."

Will lay on the hard floor of a rocking cabin. For a second he forgot where he was, but then when he heard sea talk (Starboard! Ho!) he began to remember.

"Hey you! Kid! You're off to see Marco." a tough looking crewmember yelled. Will then had the pleasure of being dragged all the way across the ship (splinters and everything)to the stern of the ship. Will could see the wake of the ship. It looked more like a splash than a wave, probably because the boat was all wind and no electricity.

"Hello child what brings you here?" a tall man holding a compass and a ed.
Will was shocked.
"Are you "the" Marco Polo?
"Yes." replied a confused Marco.
"I've always wanted to meet you! My name's Will!"
During the meeting Will explained who he was and how he had gotten there. Marco Polo explained his motives for this exploration:
"I want to go explore more of the indies. I want to go to the court of Kublai Khan again. I want to make a map of the indies!"
"But do you know how to get there?" asked Will.
"No! This blasted compass broke and now we don't have anything else to measure which direction is which, other than the sun!"
"I could help you there!" said Will. "Do you have any pieces of metal and any magnets?"
Soon Will had made a new compass for Marco.
Marco thanked him and saw that Will was fading away.
"Hurry! Get your brother!" Marco said.
Will ran to his brother and held on to him tightly...
suddenly they were once again falling in a bottomless pit...

A hand reached out of the closet and removed the boat from the screen. Two eyes looked in a bag full of key chains...

What next?

Word Story
Once upon a time...
In a Kingdom you have heard of before...
There lived a prince who had a diamond that could foresee into the future. He would look into it's many facets and see what would happen. One day, something terrible happened. A powerful witch, in guise as a peasant selling corn, came to the palace, and placed a spell on the diamond that made it turn opaque. Her spell did not completely stop the prince from seeing what would happen, so he knew when the kingdom would make its final fiasco. And he ran away from it...

Lan's eyes opened and blinked in the bright morning light. He rushed with his clothes, and left the house before his friend even had time to wake up. He walked into the sunrise and kept on walking, leaving the city behind.

"My Brother is a boor. I hate him!" And then, agog, yet frightened of his own idea. Lan turned towards the woods and ran away.

At that exact moment in a castle nearby, there was a man... Well you could call him a man but he was more of a creature. He had killed all of the animals living in the palace a week ago and had started making a foul smelling brew in the deserted castle. If he had been seen in public then he could have passed of as a normal human. His panache was so stunning, that he easily could have been passed off for the king. In fact, to be forthright, he wanted exactly that. The potions that he had been brewing from snake brains and spider venom, were made to create an illusion in the simple minds of the peasants. An illusion that he had worked his entire life to create. Of him with total power...

Lan tripped on a mangled root sticking out of the ground. He was not liking his expedition in the forest as much as he had liked it before. His feet hurt, his hands hurt, he had a head ache. Nothing seemed to be going exactly according to plan. So, Lan lay down and fell asleep...
When Lan awoke the next morning, a doleful sense tingled in the back of his mind. He paid no attention to it and started back for the village. He hoped to reach it before nightfall so that he would not have to stay the night in the forest...
When Lan reached home he saw his brother running towards him.
"Have you heard about the new king? He is the most prodigious king ever!"
Lan had never seen his brother this excited about something so with much forbearance he took him inside and asked him, "What have you been drinking recently?"
"I haven't I'm quite sane!"
"Then what are you talking about?" a completely bewildered Lan asked his older brother.
"As profound as it sounds there is a new king in the palace! Aren't you excited"...

Soon to be back with more adventures of LAN...

Response to Letting Go,
By: Daryl Hine...

The parting from man's perspective:

WHY!

Why...

How could I be so thoughtless...

Maybe I only misunderstood...

Maybe she meant to help...

No...

But...

Her eyes...

That last look...

Like icy daggers, yet somehow gentle as if still caring...

No...

She aimed her spear straight into my heart...

From the start...

She planned...

She schemed...

She plotted...

Stole my heart and then destroyed it...

Even though I did not deserve her...

But...

Her eyes...

I tried to leave...

But that gaze made me turn back...

In that look she told all I needed to know...

Her love for me was just as high...

As the anger freezing like the daggers from her eyes...

Piercing yet healing...

Going back to her...

No...

But...

Her eyes....
